Despite being somewhat cagey about its sales figures, Amazon have stated that the new Kindle, which started shipping on Wednesday, has already outsold its predecessor, according to Antone Gonsalves in Information Week. This latest model has benefited from its lower price, which caused, among others, Barnes & Noble to drop the price of it Nook 3G e-reader. The drop in prices also comes as a response to competition from tablet-style computers such as Apple’s iPad.
The newer Kindle’s also enjoy a better contrast ratio, a sleeker design, a reduced weight, a longer battery-life of a month and double the storage space.
