Reporting from the Apple event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Rob Pegoraro, brings us up to date with some of the latest developments at Apple.

According to Apple iTunes has sold 11.7 billion songs, 450 million TV episodes, 100 million movies, 35 million books, and the store now features 160 million accounts: “It’s clearly the number-one online media store in the world.” With iTunes 10, Apple have simplified the iTunes interface, but more importantly added a social demension, under the name of Ping. It’s “a social network all about music, and it’s built right into iTunes.” You can follow your favourite artists, get up to date information about releases or concert dates.
